Tepo — Privacy Policy
Last updated 20 October 2026
Tepo is made by Mazlabs ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Tepo app for iPhone and iPad.
The short version
Tepo works on your iPhone or iPad (your "device"). We don't collect, receive or store any of your documents or personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics and no advertising or tracking. If you choose iCloud Drive, your documents and settings are stored in your own iCloud account by Apple; we have no access to them.
What Tepo does with your documents
- Scanning and reading. When you scan or import a document, Tepo reads it on your device using Apple's on-device frameworks (text recognition and, where available, Apple Intelligence's on-device model). The page is not sent to us or to any other server.
- Storage. You choose where Tepo saves documents as PDF files: in iCloud Drive › Tepo, so your devices signed in to the same Apple Account share them, or only in the app's folder on your device (Files › On My iPhone or On My iPad › Tepo). iCloud Drive is provided by Apple under its own terms and privacy policy. Documents on your device are included in your backups according to your iCloud or computer backup settings, which Apple manages.
- Profiles and settings. The profiles you set up (names, business IDs such as a VAT number, names printed on your letters) and your preferences are stored on your device and, if you're signed in to iCloud, in your iCloud account, so your other devices get them.
- Notes. A note you type or dictate is stored inside the PDF's metadata, so it stays with the file.
Camera and microphone
- Camera: used only while you scan a document.
- Microphone: used only while you record a note. Speech is transcribed on your device by Apple's speech framework. Recordings are not kept.
You can turn off either permission at any time in Settings › Tepo.
Scan logs
Settings › Save scan logs is off by default. If you turn it on, Tepo keeps a text record of each scan (including the text read from the page) on your device to help diagnose mistakes. Logs never leave your device unless you choose to share one. You can delete them at any time in Settings.
Sharing
Documents only leave your device when you choose to share them (for example with the share sheet), and then they're handled by the app or service you share them with.
Children
Tepo is not directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If a future version works differently (for example a new cloud feature), we'll update this policy and explain the change in the app before it applies to you.
